Lovely Hand Cream!

I purchased this product without having read the reviews of others. I was a little hesitant about it at first, but I absolutely love it! I did not have a problem with it being too runny and pouring out of the tube, and it does a great job moisturizing my hands. If you're looking for something sticky sweet scented, this won't be the hand cream for you. I find it to have a fresh, clean scent that isn't overpowering or cloying.

I didn't like this hand cream AT ALL. Smell is very masculine/overpowering. Didn't moisturized hands. Consistency is runny. I love the hemp hand cream and will stick with that.

Terrible Lotion

This lotion is terrible for my dry hands. I gave it a shot for a week and my hands began to CRACK. I live in the desert, so things are naturally dry around here, but this lotion was awful. It was about as effective as water; I'd be ashamed to even donate this!
Try the hemp lotion; it's actually useful.

Very musky scent to it...I couldn't wait for the scent to either fade or for it to absorb some in hopes that the smell would fade. If you've used the Hemp, it's very similar in consistancy and absorbancy, only musky.

a lotion...not a cream

The texture of the cream is appropriate for a body lotion...not a cream. Lacking in moisturizing ability. I like the scent but it's unusual and I can understand why some don't like it. I was hoping for some stronger bergamot notes as I dearly miss the Bergamot lotion the Body Shop used to sell. This product needs some work.

Hands down, this is by far the worst hand cream I've ever purchased. It is thin, runny, and has a horrible scent that seems to permeate the skin and lasts forever. Donated both of them to a local shelter. The strong, almost-medicinal scent reminds me of bug repellant and the cream did absolutely nothing for my hands. Rating? The WORST ever...

I love these hand creams, I returned this cream as the scent
was just too strong and masculine, pungent for my liking.
I use the hemp love that cream, and was hoping for something lighter in scent than the hemp. This was STRONGER than the hemp scent and I didn't care for it at all.

I love the scent of the Absinthe Purifying Hand Cream. I can't stop smelling my hands after I put it on. However, I agree with the other reviewers that it is too runny and doesn't moisturize as well as I'd like. I'd love a body butter that smelled like this!

I love this product. Many have commented on the strong smell....that's intended. The product is intended to conceal odors on your hands, such as onion smell after cooking or eating lunch with onions. It is thinner than the usual creams, and is more lotion like. Nice, herbal smell.

I had severe dry skin problems with my hands, and the Hemp Hand Protector fixed everything. So once I didn't rely on the Hemp one so much, I figured I'd try the Absinthe. I personally like the smell, other reviewers don't seem to like it, but I wasn't happy with the quality of the lotion. I wasn't pleased with the liquid-y texture, it feels too watery, and it seems to take the moisture out of my hands rather than keep it in. I would recommend it to people who don't have severe dry skin issues and don't mind the smell.

I will keep my Hemp Hand Protector

I have dry hands and love the Hemp Hand Protector so I thought I would try this new product. The smell is so overpowering and stays there all day, it is much thinner than the Hemp and more like a lotion. I was going to toss it when my daughter-in-law smelled it and liked it so gave it to her. the hand butter was not as strong and thicker so I kept it, as backup. I do not live near a store so just have to buy to try new scents, not happy with this one at all.

The lotion seems to suck the moisture out of my hands, leaving the skin tight, dry and full of wrinkles. I like the smell, which is an evergreen smell, but it's not worth it to put it on my hands. I think it's suppose to be an antiseptic type of lotion? It's more of a lotion, not a cream. I have older skin, age 57.

I'll stick to the HEMP...

When I purchased the hand cream there were only a few reviews and they all sounded positive. I was terribly disappointed with it!! Over-powering fragrance!!! Would not recommend to anyone with sensitivities to scents or perfumes!!! Wish THE BODY SHOP would relax a little on fragrances. If I want that I would be shopping at Bath and Body Works. PLEASE - PLEASE go back to more natural subtle fragrances!!!

I, too, switched to TBS from Bath & Body Works because TBS had many natural scents and products. Lately, TBS has been going much stronger - pun intended - on the perfume and fragrance. This is very disappointing. I also gave this product a poor review for the same reason you did. I hope other TBS customers chime in, so that TBS hears us and hopefully goes back to lighter scents. I like natural products.

Overpowering Smell

This is one product that I wish I had read the reviews on as the scent is overwhelming. If you have even a slight sensitivity to perfumes or scents, I would not recommend this product. The cream does make my hands soft but you have to use quite a bit to get any benefit. I just cannot tolerate the overpowering smell, so this was a waste of money. Unfortunately there are no stores in Montana so I cannot return and don't want to pay additional postage to return.

If there are no stores in your state or local area, I would recommend that you call or e-mail TBS customer service and request a return by mail at no cost to you. TBS's in store return policy has been fair. This product is too expensive to just eat the cost and/or pay too much shippping to return. Good luck! :)

Strong Scent

I love the hand lotions at The Body Shop but this one has a very strong masculine scent that does not go away. I thought I'd try it because the previous reviews said that the scent fades quickly. All I could smell was my hands all day long. I will try to return this to the store as I do not care for this scent at all.

Love the packaging, can't get enough of the smell. Except I wish the lotion was thicker. I just don't notice my hand getting softer due to the lotion being too "liquid" like. I hope they make a body butter out of this someday! Like I said, I'm in love with the scent!

I'm glad this hand cream appealed to you. TBS does make this exact scent in a hand butter. My favorite is actually the Wild Rose Hand butter. It's a good quality moisturizer and thicker than the hand cream. Enjoy!

Absinthe Hand Lotion

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this lotin. The name "Absinthe" is why I bought it.
Pros: Works wonders!! I have washed my hands and used tons of hand sanitizer this winter and my hands were suffering - they were visibly dry and the skin actually hurt it was so dry. After using this only twice, they are all better :) It dries very quickly and is not greasy.
Smell: The smell is very odd, kinda like dirt, grass and mint but it doesn't stink... maybe a little medicine smell... even though it smells strange, the smell fades quickly into a clean smell.
Cons: The weird tube is awful!!! As soon as I opened it, a bunch stated coming out. The lid is diffucult to get back on.

Strange scent, good moisturizer

Absinthe hand cream offers good quality moisture as the other TBS hand creams do; however, the scent is quite medicinal & strange. I bought this hand cream on the 50% off sale. I really wanted to like this, so I tried it for 3 days. To me, it smells like men's drugstore quality aftershave. It takes at least 3 very thorough hand washings to remove the scent from your hands. I'm exchanging this for TBS's Wild Rose Hand Cream, which remains my tried and true. Caution: you do have to be careful with the metal tube as the cream comes out in a big glob (what a waste!) if you squeeze it the wrong way.

Great Scent, But Very Messy

I absolutely loved the smell of this new line, but as soon as I unscrewed the tube, a generous about of the product came spilling out. It is very messy, and I don't think the watery consistency or the metallic tube is appropriate for on the go use. I would have definitely held back on this purchase if I knew how the hand cream would be. Perhaps the butter version will be thicker but still have the same great fragrance.

The scent is out of this world. The hand cream is moist; but I'm using less & using this product when I go to sleep. Very nice scent for your senses while drifting off to slumber land: It's also long lasting!! I like the butter also; but the cream does have the strongest & lasting scent. I will be purchasing this product for gifts for my female friends: They're going to love it too!
